The main purpose of the trip he conducted together with the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development Louis Paul Motaze, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health Alim Hayatou and the Country Director of the UNHCR, was to assess the situation of the refugees in the region.

The childcare and nutrition centers constructed by the UNHCR with funding from the KfW made a positive impression on the visitors. While visiting Minawao, the largest refugee camp in Cameroon, they were able to witness the positive impact that the German financial support amounting to 23 million euro has had on children below the age of 5.
